WHAT YOU'LL STUDY
- Fundamentals of Mental Health and the Individual: This unit focuses on defining mental health and wellbeing, exploring different models of mental health, common mental disorders, and strategies for managing and promoting personal wellbeing.
- Mental Health, Wellbeing and Society: You'll learn how societal views on mental health have changed over time, how attitudes and approaches to care have evolved, and how mental health and wellbeing are measured and influenced by modern society (e.g. social media, global issues).
- Supporting and Promoting Mental Health in Organisations: This explores how workplaces support the mental health of employees, identifying factors that impact wellbeing at work, and how to communicate and implement mental health campaigns.
- Community-based Support: You'll learn about the importance of social connectedness and social prescribing — non-medical approaches used in the community to improve mental health and wellbeing.
ASSESSMENT
This course is assessed through a blend of external exams for core knowledge units and internal assignments (PSABs - Pearson Set Assignment Briefs) for practical application. Assignments involve tasks like reports, presentations, or role-plays, completed on set dates, while exams test broader understanding of mental health concepts, societal views, and support. Units are graded Pass, Merit, or Distinction, and contribute to the overall qualification grade.
