COMPUTER SCIENCE
This qualification helps students understand the core academic principles of computer science. It will equip you with the knowledge, skills and mindset required to thrive in the ever-evolving field of computing. You’ll develop your technical understanding as well as your ability to analyse and solve problems using computational thinking.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Five GCSEs Grade 4-9 (including Maths, English Language and other supporting subjects). If you want to study a full A Level programme, you will need at least two grade 5s in supporting subjects as part of your five grade 4–9s.
Extra requirements: Grade 6 in GCSE Maths and Grade 5/5 in GCSE Combined Science.

ABOUT THE COURSE
Over the two-year course, four units will be taught: three are mandatory and one is optional. The units: Fundamentals of Computer Systems; IT Systems Security and Encryption; Principles of Computer Science; and the optional unit will be Website Development (this is subject to change, depending on the needs of students).
