Student Societies
We run five different categories of Student Societies throughout the year:
- Sport and physical activity
- Nature, outdoors and adventure
- Developing wider life skills
- Arts and Culture
- Civic engagement – volunteering and debating
Student Societies are run by students for students, and we’re always looking for more volunteers to help out.
In September, the current Student Society leaders will be hosting the Student Society Fair, where you will be able to sign up for any activities that interest you.
If you’d like to become a Student Society leader, speak with Adam Woodley or email him (adam.woodley@coopacademies.co.uk), who will help you to get your society up and running.
Some of the Student Societies that are being offered for the 2026-27 academic year include:
- Arts and Crafts
- Basketball
- Boards Games, Backgammon and Chess
- Debate Club
- Football
- Girl's Tag Rugby (Leadership programme)
- Kwik Cricket
- LGBTQ+
- Netball
- Songwriting
- Table Tennis
Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award
If you fancy a challenge, you can take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. You will volunteer, develop a skill and complete an expedition. It’s a great way to increase your resilience, independence and teamwork skills. Not only that, but it’s well recognised by universities and employers, so it'll look great on your CV.
Facilities for Exercise and Physical Activity
We’re surrounded by excellent sporting facilities. Just across the road there is a swimming pool, gym and dance studio where students get free membership year-round.
We also have a sports hall and MUGA that can be used by students. They're also where many of our sports clubs take place.
Subject Enhancement
Throughout the year, you’ll get the chance to go on trips, theatre visits and university lectures. We also invite expert speakers to come in and talk to you. These experiences support the learning you do in college.
