Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Objectives 2025-26

We will challenge stereotypes and promote equality of opportunity across the Connell community.
We will ensure that Connell provides an inclusive, welcoming and vibrant culture so that all students and staff feel valued, respected and engaged
We will promote EDI through our CORE and academic curricula so that students have an opportunity to discuss and discuss their views in a supportive environment.
Our current objectives are as follows
- By the end of the 2025-2026 academic year, increase the percentage of multilingual students who report feeling safe and encouraged to use their mother tongue in school by 25%. This will be measured through an annual student survey and qualitative feedback gathered during events like Mother Tongue Day.
- Over the 2025-2026 academic year, increase participation of Global Majority parent/carers in college activities (e.g., coffee mornings, volunteer groups) by 20%. This will be tracked through sign-in sheets and event attendance records.
- Maintain and increase staff confidence in challenging racist behavior, with the goal of reaching a 95% comfort level by July 2026, as measured by our annual staff survey. We will also implement a follow-up qualitative feedback process to understand the specific barriers staff face.
- By the end of the 2025-2026 academic year, implement training on racial literacy, with a target of a 10% increase in staff self-reported racial literacy skills, as measured by a post-training survey.
- By July 2026, offer a racial literacy workshops for staff. We will measure success through post-workshop feedback and a review of the pilot effectiveness.
