MEDICAL SCIENCE
You will learn about the principles and applications of medical science, and you'll develop practical and investigative skills built on fundamental knowledge. Science-based AAQs are widely recognised by higher education and industry as the vocational qualification of choice at Level 3.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
You must achieve a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent qualifications at grades 4–9. These must include English Language and other supporting subjects. You also need a grade 3 or above in Maths, English Literature and Science.
Extra entry requirements: Grade 4/4 in GCSE Combined Science. Priority will be given to students with Grade 4 in
GCSE Maths.

WHAT YOU'LL STUDY
Unit 1 – Principles of Human Physiology, Anatomy and Pathology: You will learn how the human body works, be able to assess if it is in good or poor health, whilst learning how you can make a difference to others in the field of medical sciences.
Unit 2 – Health Issues and Scientific Reporting: You will develop your understanding of medical science through learning about contemporary health issues, alongside developing knowledge about scientific analysis, evaluation and reporting.
Unit 3 – Practical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases: You'll investigate the effect of antimicrobial agents on the growth of microorganisms, by selecting and applying knowledge of microorganisms and infectious diseases.
Unit 4 – Diseases, Disorders, Treatments and Therapies (pharmacy related courses) or Unit 5 – Biomedical Science (medical related courses).
CAREERS AND DESTINATIONS
This course provides a strong academic foundation for university entry into many health-related degrees or a stepping stone into technical and assistant roles in the science and healthcare sectors.
