MEDICAL SCIENCE

WHAT YOU'LL STUDY
- Unit 1 – Principles of Human Physiology, Anatomy and Pathology: You will learn how the human body works, be able to assess if it is in good or poor health, whilst learning how you can make a difference to others in the field of medical sciences.
- Unit 2 – Health Issues and Scientific Reporting: You will develop your understanding of medical science through learning about contemporary health issues, alongside developing knowledge about scientific analysis, evaluation and reporting.
- Unit 3 – Practical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases: You will investigate the effect of antimicrobial agents on the growth of microorganisms, by selecting and applying knowledge of microorganisms and infectious diseases.
- Unit 4 – Diseases, Disorders, Treatments and Therapies (Pharmacy) or Unit 5 – Biomedical Science (specific unit to be confirmed)
ASSESSMENT
Assessment for this course is a combination of exams and coursework. The exams include a mixture of multiple choice, short and long answered questions, practical write-ups and research-based tasks. You will also produce a coursework portfolio each year.
