Corona Virus/COVID-19 Update

For information and help during the current crisis, please see the attached document here.

11th May update:

Current Guidance
Following the update from the Prime Minister on Sunday the guidance for schools at the moment has not changed. We are still closed to all children, apart from vulnerable students and children of key workers. The Government is still asking parents to keep children at home whenever possible.

Reopening of Colleges
We will share further information on that as soon as we have received it from the Government.

March 2020:

The college has now received instructions to close in line with the government’s national approach to delaying the spread of COVID-19.

The principle that we are all working to is that if students can safely stay at home they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading. The Government is asking parents to keep their children at home whenever possible – schools will remain open only for those students who absolutely need to attend.

At this time, we expect the college to remain closed until told otherwise, although we will continue to be advised by the Department for Education and Public Health England.

We will keep you up to date as and when we find out more and as and when the situation changes.

During this period of time, students should remain at home and avoid gathering in large groups.

Learn from Home

We have made provision for continuing to provide education by posting work and resources on the college’s Google Drive platform.

Students are able to access all of this from any device that has an internet connection.  It does not require any specialist software.

Students will also be able to submit their completed work in this way directly to their teachers, who will continue to monitor and provide guidance and feedback.

Your child’s learning is important to us, so we’ll continue to help your child to learn.

KEY WORKERS

We will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (click here to see if you are a key worker) and children with certain needs.

We are waiting for the government to publish more information on what this means, but it would help us in the meantime if you could let us know if you think your child may fall into one of these categories. Would you please email conl-info@coopacademies.co.uk  as soon as possible with your child’s name, year group and some sense of how many days a week you’d be expecting them to be in college. I will then contact everyone who needs this support.

Principal
